Full Manuscript Critique

I will read through your manuscript and provide you with a developmental edit, notes/feedback with my reactions/thoughts, and a readers analysis. I will search for any grammatical errors/typos and adjust as needed.

I enjoy the following genres in both YA & MG:

Paranormal (any kind of paranormal aside from zombies), Horror, Thriller, Comedy, Rom-Com, Adventure, Coming-of-Age, Lit-Fit, Spec-Fic, Light-Fantasy, Magical Realism, Fairytale re-tellings.

Not a great fit for: Historical Fiction, Hard Sci-Fi, Non-Fiction.

About Me

Hello! My name is Amanda, I’m Puerto Rican and hailed from the Bronx, NY before being moved to the suburbs of upstate New York. I was previously represented by two literary agents of a prominent agency in NYC for a little over a year before severing my contract to seek new representation.

To tell you about my previous querying journey I finished my first manuscript, an NA Psychological Thriller currently titled Sever My Soul in about 4 months before completing my second manuscript a YA Paranormal titled Vampires Are the Worst in one week. Vampires Are the Worst was actually the book to land me two offers of representation. My stats for these books were as follows:

SEVER MY SOUL:

Queries Sent: 48

Fulls Requested: 2

Partials Requested: 3

Rejections: 46 (these rejections also include 2 agents that I had let know I had received an offer of rep and they did not have enough time to finish reading.)

VAMPIRES ARE THE WORST

Queries: 10

Full Requests: 5

Rejections: 8 – including rejections on fulls

Offers of Rep: 2

(To read more about my previous querying journey and to get more specific details please click here)

Now, I am back inside of the query trenches submitting the same vampire book. I started querying again March 1st, 2022 and have received 6 full requests and 2 partials – so far I have 4 rejections (two for a full and the other 2 on the partial) and am waiting to hear back from the other fulls as well as the other queries I have out in the ether.

Aside from previously being represented, I was also a literary intern with ArtHouse Literary Agency where I have been exposed to the importance and guidelines of what goes into the perfect query letter and how to conduct a readers analysis to find what’s missing from a story. I have also worked as a mentor with the WriteMentor’s summer program for the past two summers helping writers improve their craft and guide them within the literary world. Finally, I have my BA in Professional Writing from Western Connecticut State University and received an honorary Distinction in Writing from the university’s Writing Department for my Senior Thesis and Portfolio.
